Conservation Efforts

The hills of Manawahe are steep and rugged as they rise up from the fertile Rangitaiki Plains, they form an ecological corridor from the Coats in Matata to the Rotorua lakes. Quite by accident, our native Kokako was found living there around 30 years ago.

Since then, dedicated volunteers from the Manawahe Eco Trust and the Kokako Trust have put in countless hours to protect this bird and the environment it lives in. Their conservation efforts have benefitted Tui, Bellbird, NZ Robin, Whitehead, and many more. It is a special experience to walk under the canopy of these ancient trees and hear their distinctive songs.

The Manawahe Eco Trust is one of the five conservation trusts that Productivity People sponsors, and our conservation efforts will soon reach a whole new level of involvement in Manawahe.

More about this coming soon. Watch this space!
